Öffentliche Versammlung in Freisenbruch: Ausbau der Bochumer Landstraße und neues Einkaufszentrum im Fokus
Am Montag, dem 10. November 2025, fand im Heiland-Zentrum in Freisenbruch eine gut besuchte Bürgerversammlung statt. Im Mittelpunkt standen die Pläne zum Ausbau der Kreuzung Bochumer Landstraße sowie des Einkaufszentrums in Bochum. Numerous Anwohnerinnen und Anwohner folgten der Einladung und zeigten großes Interesse an den Vorhaben.
Bei der Veranstaltung trafen besorgte Bürger auf Essens Oberbürgermeister Thomas Kufen. Two central projects stood on the agenda: the redesign of the intersection Bochumer Landstraße/Sachsenring/Rodenseelstraße and the construction of the long-awaited shopping center in Bochum.

Ziel der Kreuzungsumgestaltung ist es, die Verkehrssicherheit zu erhöhen, Staus zu verringern und die Erreichbarkeit der öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel zu verbessern. Particularly the construction of the shopping center is demanded by the residents for years – they see it as a significant gain for the local infrastructure. Kufen went into direct exchange on questions and concerns of the participants. After the meeting, he described the conversations as constructive and praised the open dialogue between city administration and citizens. The feedback of the attendees indicated that the event was perceived as successful. The high participation underlined how important the project Bochumer Landstraße is to the population.
The meeting confirmed the broad support for both the modernization of the intersection and the shopping center. Now the city representatives will evaluate the collected feedback before the detailed planning progresses. With the progress of the projects, further updates are to be expected.
